INFECTION PREVENTION IS PLAY A CRUCIAL ROLE IN KEEPING THE PUBLIC SAFE AND HEALTHY, PROTECTING US FROM SURGES IN HEALTH CARE ASSOCIATED INFECTIONS, AND KEEPING THE COMMUNITY HEALTHY AND AWARE. HIGHS ARE AMONG THE MOST COMMON COMPLICATIONS OF HOSPITAL CARE.

MORE THAN 1 MILLION HAIS OCCUR ACROSS THE US EVERY YEAR, ACCORDING TO THE CDC. ONE OUT OF 31 HOSPITAL PATIENTS IN THE US HAS AN HAI, MEANING THAT APPROXIMATELY 650,000 PATIENTS CONTRACT ONE OF THESE INFECTIONS ANNUALLY. SUCH INFECTIONS WERE LONG ACCEPTED BY CLINICIANS AS INEVITABLE HAZARDS OF HOSPITALIZATION AND PATIENT CAR. HOWEVER, IT IS NOW UNDERSTOOD THAT RELATIVELY STRAIGHTFORWARD APPROACHES CAN PREVENT MANY OF THESE HOSPITALS ARE PRIORITIZING EFFORTS TO REDUCE THE BURDENS OF THESE INFECTIONS. HAND HYGIENE REMAINS THE MOST IMPORTANT PRACTICE FOR PREVENTING HAIS. APPROPRIATE HAND HYGIENE PREVENTS UP TO 50% OF AVOIDABLE INFECTIONS ACQUIRED DURING HEALTH CARE DELIVERY, INCLUDING THOSE THAT BOTH AFFECT THE HEALTH CARE WORKER AND THE PATIENT'S AWARENESS OF HAND HYGIENE IS IMPORTANT AS A KEY STRATEGY IN PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL FOCUS IN REDUCING THESE. THEY'RE PROJECTING ON FINISHING THIS UP BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR. SO ACTUALLY, AT THE RATE THAT THEY'RE MOVING, IT SHOULD BE PROBABLY A LITTLE BIT SOONER THAN THAT. WHICH IS WHICH IS A GOOD THING. WE'LL GET THIS OPENED UP IN NO TIME, THANKFULLY. AND THE GOAL IS ONCE THEY FINISH UP WITH SMITH ROAD, THEY'LL MOVE A LITTLE BIT FURTHER WEST RIGHT HERE TO BOYD ROAD, THE BOIT ROAD OVERPASS.
