YOU KNOW, I KNOW FROM WHAT I'VE BEEN ABLE TO LEARN THAT THE CITY HAD SCHEDULED NEGOTIATIONS TO BEGIN JULY THE NINTH, AND THAT WAS ACTUALLY CANCELED BY THE FIRE UNION, AND THEN THERE WAS AN EMAIL THAT SAID THAT THE SUMMER TRAVEL SCHEDULE OF MANY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE FIRE UNION WERE SO DIFFICULT, IT MADE IT HARD TO SCHEDULE, A NEW, NEW TIME TO BEGIN CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS. SO WE KNOW THAT NEGOTIATIONS ARE NOW SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER EIGHTH. THIS COUNCIL HAS DONE A TREMENDOUS JOB OF TAKING CARE OF THE NEEDS OF PUBLIC SAFETY IN BEAUMONT, AND THAT'S REFLECTED IN THE BUDGETS THAT ARE HERE. SO WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO KEEP THAT WORK GOING TO MAKE SURE WE WORK CLOSELY WITH THEM TO GET THINGS DONE. AND ME AS A NEGOTIATOR AND US, WE WANT TO TAKE THE IDEALS AND THE GOALS OF CITY COUNCIL AND SIT DOWN WITH THEM AND COME UP WITH SOMETHING THAT'S A WIN WIN SITUATION FOR ALL OF US HERE IN BEAUMONT. WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO TIGHTEN BELTS SUFFICIENTLY TO SOLVE OUR PROBLEM. WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO GROW. AND I BELIEVE THAT WE HAVE A PLAN, AND WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO WORK ON THAT PLAN. AND I'M EXCITED ABOUT BEING US, BEING ABLE TO DO THAT. I THINK IT'S, IT WAS JUST, SIX DAYS, SEVEN DAYS AGO THAT GOVERNOR ABBOTT WAS IN TOWN BECAUSE WE WERE CONCERNED ABOUT FRANCINE AND WE RAPIDLY SOMETIMES FORGET HOW QUICKLY THINGS CHANGE, ALSO ON THAT SAME DAY, WE, EXXONMOBIL HAD, UNEXPECTED RELEASE.
